High Point Market was a whirlwind of a trip -- Andy and I touched and sat in ALL THE THINGS!!! We had about a week at home to decompress and get back into our daily routine -- and now we are welcoming new arrivals into the shop from North Carolina!
Market is always a wonderful place for me to be refreshed creatively and educate myself on all the latest and greatest in this beautiful industry of home furnishings. Having the chance to be a curious "shopper" and not a "store owner" for a few days is so reviving and invites me to take a hard look at my shop and tweak a few things.
I came away from this spring High Point trip inspired to get "back to basics". I'm a minimalist in my heart (not in my kids' toy rooms) and want the shop to reflect our core values which are (1) craftsmanship, (2) beauty, and (3) function.
To be honest, sometimes as a shop owner I feel lots of pressure to have "all the things" available. But the reality is -- I'm much happier & creatively charged in a simple shop with a few great pieces.
Just like your home -- my shop is carefully edited and edited...and edited and edited. The shop girls and I have a joke that every time we rearrange the shop it gets better and better. And I believe the same is true in your home!
Pick pieces you LOVE. Pick pieces you can reimagine in different rooms throughout the years. Pick art and tables and rugs that are versatile enough to work in a variety of settings and truly speak to you. That's how you can confidently curate a home that survives the trends & seasons!
