Can I be honest -- outdoor furniture & decor in general can be challenging. First of all, there are few gorgeous lines that are "outdoor friendly". As I've chatted with these vendors at market...I find they aren't necessarily "Nebraska-proof" Our frequent, and chaotic, temperature changes can wreak havoc on even the most well designed outdoor furniture. Recommendations for subzero and snowy weather typically go something like this -- "store indoors".
My client wanted her screened porch to be an extension of her home. We decided on a pair of outdoor bistro tables to provide alternative dining. The dining room was visible from the sunroom, we didn't want to approach it the same way. A slipcovered linen bench provides a more sophisticated approach to dining al fresco.
To tie the dining area to the seating area, we incorporated a mix of cactus silk, Moroccan wool, and handwoven pillows to make the area feel more cohesive.
I originally selected a white & black indoor rug for the space. As we began working with pillows, something just didn't feel right. The rug is sooo soft (which already beats half the indoor outdoor rugs on the market) so with some experimentation, we found we preferred it upside down...and in the seating area instead! Funny how some things work out.
For the patio, we wanted a substantial table. Unimpressed by the options on the market, we partnered with Forged Woodworks to create a custom 11' long cedar harvest table.
